Educating, Accessing and Socialising
The Youth
Educating, Assessing and Socialising the Youth (EASY)
A training programme for guidance counsellors
Justification for the EASY Programme
Young men, 12 to 17 years-old, do not do as well as their female
counterparts in academics and there is also a high drop-out rate.
This is a major concern for the Jamaican society as these delinquent
males will be unqualified, unskilled and unemployed adults.
The picture for girls is a little different in its outward manifestation,
but is driven by similar forces; activities are sexual in nature.
The aim is to resocialise our adolescents with problems to become
functional in a changing environment. It is, therefore, critical
if we are to find preventative measures and effective curative action
to eliminate the problem.
