PROVISION UNDER THE PRIMARY TEXTBOOK PROGRAMME 2007/2008

The attached table shows the titles of the textbooks/workbooks that the Ministry of Education and Youth will
be providing free-of-charge to students in Grades 1-6 in all primary, all age and junior high schools under the Primary Textbook Programme 2007/2008. These materials will be delivered over August -September
2007.
The Literacy 1-2-3 readers form part of the provision of new materials aimed at supporting the literacy window in the revised primary curriculum.
The materials are being developed for Grades 1, 2 and 3 under the Primary Education Support Project (PESP) and additional readers, activity books and textbooks will be delivered to schools during the course of the 2007-2008 school year.
You are asked to ensure the following:

  • Parents are made fully aware of all materials that students are being provided with through the Primary Textbook Programme 2007/2008.
  • Any book list that you send home to parents must not replicate the provision that the MoE& Y is making through the Primary Textbook Programme 2007/2008.
  • The number of workbooks and textbooks on any book list sent to parents must be kept to a minimum.

Please note that the Integrated Studies and the Mathematics books are the only workbooks being provided i.e. students are allowed to write in them.
All other books supplied must be used over a period of two years and must be kept in good condition. Replacement stocks of the books will be provided at the end of each two year cycle.
